Ready For Reading Club

A small-group summer program to build early reading skills and confidence before the school year.

Basic Overview

  • Designed for rising K–1 students

  • Small, intentionally grouped classes (max 3 students)

  • 1-hour sessions

  • Meets 2–3 times per week

  • 10-week summer program (June–August)

  • Led by a tutor trained in Orton-Gillingham, with a focus on building strong reading foundations

Who This Is For

  • children entering kindergarten or first grade

  • students who are not yet reading or are just beginning to read

  • families who are looking for a structured, small-group setting with individualized attention

How It Works

  • You’ll start by completing a short interest form when you request placement

  • I’ll follow up to schedule a brief placement assessment (10–15 minutes)

  • From there, I’ll place your child in a small group where they can feel supported and successful

What Students Will Gain

  • stronger awareness of sounds in words (a key foundation for reading)

  • early phonics skills and the ability to begin decoding simple words

  • increased confidence when approaching reading tasks

  • a positive, encouraging experience with language and learning

Program Details

  • sessions are held Tuesday–Thursday

  • morning and early afternoon times available

  • each group meets at a consistent time each week

  • parents will receive a brief progress snapshot at the end of the program

What Makes This Program Different

  • groups are carefully formed based on skill level, not just age

  • instruction is explicit, structured, and aligned with the science of reading

  • sessions follow a consistent routine so children know what to expect

  • the small group size allows for meaningful support and connection
